NeoSoul Lifestyle Experiment - Restoration

As promised....you are receiving a preview of each of the components of the NeoSoul Lifestyle Experiment as we prepare for it to begin August 1-7. Just to refresh your memory the NeoSoul Lifestyle Experiement will incorporate each of the following components during each of the seven (7) days:
-Restoration
-Detoxification
-Life Flow
-Karma

Tonight, I want to give you some more insight about what the RESTORATION component will look like during our NeoSoul Lifestyle Experiment. RESTORATION is defined as an act of restoring to an improved condition; a reconstruction of an original form. (I must admit the words alone send a tingle up my spine!)

As we move about our daily lives we often "just keep going" until we're completely exhausted or burnt out. Often we wait until an official vacation before we attempt to restore our minds, bodies, and soul....and some of us actually don't even relax on vacation! Worse, many of us don't use our vacation....and the absolute worst is that many folks only find rest in a hospital after their bodies or minds has subcumb to an ailment.

The RESTORATION component of the NeoSoul Lifestyle Experiment is designed to develop simple and practical steps to restore our sense of calm, peace, and rest....releasing stress, anxiety, & insomnia.....so as a first step we will focus on restoring sleep!

RESTORATION:
-Sleep a minimum of 7-8 hours each night
-Refrain from falling asleep on the sofa
-Prepare your bed for sleep (favorite sheets, pillows)
-Refrain from any source of technology (tv, computer, phone) 1 hour before bed

Simple steps right......hmmmm, we'll we shall see! Lately I have noticed a growing trend of the "They Sleep, We Grind" philosphy among folks "trying to make it happen". Now I am all for committing to your responsibilities, but I don't agree w/the trend of de-valuing sleep.

What are your sleeping habits now? Do you feel refreshed each morning? On a scale from 1-10 how much do you value sleep? Do you feel guilty when you rest? Share your comments!

And remember........

During the next few days of this week leading up to the experiment, I will share more details about each component and how it relates to the NeoSoul Lifestyle!

I would like the experiements to create an interactive community! Change is hard enough.....but sharing togther promotes inspiration, learning, and accountability.....all of which increase the probability of sustainability!

So, if you're ready to join in....take the next steps!
1. Email me at neosoulalterego@gmail.com to RSVP
2. Subscribe to the blog
3. Comment on the blog at least twice during the experiment

Those of you who take those steps, will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a $25 SpaFinder gift card!

Here's to the beginning of your NeoSoul Lifestyle Evolution!

  1. I love to sleep and value it at an 8.5. I am not a person who can survive on 4 or 5 hours a night so the "They sleep...We grind" movement is somewhat lost on me. I can't grind properly if I'm sleepy.

When I come home from work and really unwind which means very little TV, a proper dinner, a warm shower 15mins before bed, and actually going to bed by 10p, I wake up feeling refreshed. Lately, I have been wasting time chatting on the phone despite the fact that I hate to talk on the phone or I'm online. When I do things like that I look up and it is usually way past 10p and I have a hard time going to sleep thus I wake up tired and annoyed. I need to get back on track my normal routine.

  2. Lack of sleep affects memory. That being typed, I have a terrible memory.
